Frequently Asked Questions – Auburn AI

Is Auburn AI a real consulting firm or just a side project?

Auburn AI is a registered sole proprietorship based in Calgary, Alberta. The consulting practice operates under fixed-scope contracts – this is not a hobby that takes client money on the side. Alexander McGregor also runs six other web properties through Auburn AI, which function as an ongoing production lab for testing AI tooling before recommending it to clients. If it hasn’t been proven in a real build, it doesn’t get recommended.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. A standard mutual NDA is signed before any discovery work begins. If your legal team has a preferred agreement, send it to legal@auburnai.ca and it will be reviewed promptly. If you need a starting template, Auburn AI has one ready to send.

How does pricing work, and is it in Canadian dollars?

All quotes are in Canadian dollars. GST is added where applicable, and every invoice is GST-compliant for your records. Payment is accepted by Interac e-transfer or USD wire – whichever is less friction for your accounting team. No credit card processing at this time.

How does Auburn AI handle PIPEDA compliance?

PIPEDA is treated as a first-class constraint, not an afterthought. Here is what that looks like at each tier:

  • Tier 1 (Audit): Every recommendation includes a privacy risk assessment. You will know which data flows carry risk before any build starts.
  • Tier 2 (Single Workflow): Builds are privacy-first by default. This includes data redaction layers where personal information touches an AI model, and model selection that supports data-handling agreements.
  • Tier 3 (Full Stack): Same as Tier 2, with additional consideration for on-premise n8n deployments where data residency requirements make cloud routing inappropriate.

If your industry has obligations beyond PIPEDA – healthcare, finance, legal – flag that during discovery and the architecture will reflect it.

What tools does Auburn AI actually build on?

The primary stack is n8n (self-hosted or cloud depending on your requirements), the Anthropic API for Claude, and the OpenAI API when a client has a preference or existing OpenAI agreement. Beyond that, Auburn AI builds on whatever first-party tools your business already runs – your CRM, your inbox, your project management system. The goal is to add an AI layer on top of working infrastructure, not to replace it with something new that your team has to learn.

What is the typical turnaround time?

  • Tier 1 – AI Workflow Audit: 5 business days from signed contract and completed intake.
  • Tier 2 – Single Workflow Build: 2 to 3 weeks depending on integration complexity.
  • Tier 3 – Full Workflow Stack: 4 to 5 weeks. Larger scopes are broken into delivery milestones so you are not waiting until week five to see anything.

These are working timelines, not marketing estimates. If something in your stack is going to slow things down, it gets flagged at the scoping call.

What if I can only afford part of the budget right now?

Start with the Tier 1 audit at $497. The deliverable is a prioritized plan you can act on yourself – it is not a teaser document designed to upsell you. If you come back for a Tier 2 or Tier 3 engagement later, the $497 deducts from the larger project cost. There is no pressure to commit to more than you can absorb right now.

Will you train my team to use Claude or ChatGPT?

Not as a primary engagement. Auburn AI focuses on automations that run without requiring your team to write prompts or manage AI sessions. The workflows do the prompting internally. If you are looking for prompt-engineering training for humans, that is a separate product and not the core practice here. Reach out to alexander@auburnai.ca if you want to discuss what that could look like separately.

Can you guarantee results?

Auburn AI guarantees that the build delivers the functionality scoped in the contract – the workflow runs, the integrations connect, and the outputs match what was specified. What cannot be guaranteed is downstream impact: hours saved, revenue influenced, or efficiency gains. Those outcomes depend on how consistently your team actually uses the workflow after handoff. Adoption guidance and documentation are included at handoff, but what happens after that is client-owned. That is an honest answer, not a hedge.

What is the refund policy?

Tier 1 audits carry a full refund within 7 days of delivery if you read the report and decide it is not useful to you. No hoops – just send an email saying it did not meet your needs and the payment is returned.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 engagements are scope-locked. If Auburn AI fails to deliver the functionality defined in the contract, the unused portion of the project fee is refunded. Completed and delivered work is final. Scope changes after sign-off are handled as separate line items, not as a reason to revisit payment for completed phases.

Where is Auburn AI located, and do you work outside Calgary?

Calgary, Alberta. Client engagements are handled fully async, so location is not a limitation – Auburn AI works with Canadian businesses from Victoria to St. John’s. There are no on-site engagements at this time. Discovery, delivery, and handoff all happen over video call and shared documents.
